Nobody from the shelter bothered to call the number. Unfortunately, the present system requires the owner to take legal action and most of them cannot afford to do it. So yes, good legislation that protects companion animals will be necessary and we all need to start working towards that.Kathy Pobloskiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02072184840208462648noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7832387493738769350.post-20164432079483112002012-08-24T15:15:21.191-05:002012-08-24T15:15:21.191-05:00Thank you for this great article. This (and Valerie's comment above) is another great reason to avoid leaving dogs unsupervised in back yards - definitely a crazy and dangerous world, and too many cases of dogs not lasting through the stray hold.Jen deHaan https://www.blogger.com/profile/09779747351354800176noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7832387493738769350.post-55106155989223094342012-08-24T15:15:06.536-05:002012-08-24T15:15:06.536-05:00Thank you for this great article. And, if a vindictive neighbor turned in your dog claiming he was theirs, some will kill the dog immediately (without checking for a microchip!) because that is what they do with "owner turn ins". I know of places in Georgia where these things have happened. It is a crazy and dangerous world, without a set of enforced standards.Valerie Hayeshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01745453758358242604noreply@blogger.com
